La Ultima Parada 2016 – Los Mestizos de San Jose

LUP 2016 takes great pleasure in welcoming Los Mestizos de San Jose to the “La Viejada” Main Stage!

In the summer of 1973, several adult folklorico dancers realized that they shared a common philosophy:  the need to assure that children were taught the traditional dances of Mexico.  Their mantra: “Only by teaching our youth, the beauty and history of the traditional dances can we assure that the art form will continue and prosper in future generations”.  So these families, together created “LOS MESTIZOS de SAN JOSE”.  The founding members were from the families Castro, Gutierrez, Rocha, Rodriquez, and Carrasco.  Since then, Los Mestizos de San Jose have been responsible for teaching thousands of children, many of which have continued throughout their adult lives as dancers, directors and teachers.

In 2004 Maestra Theresa Rodriguez passed on the director position to Hector Gonzalez and he remains director to this date.
